I found this recipe on my Group Recipe website, a while back ,and have been wanting to make them. After vacation, buying a car for my new teen drivers and taking care of all my mother duties , this morning I found sometime
Waking up early , about 5am, to the sound of the air conditioner I knew Idaho was in for a hot one. I made my way to the kitchen and quickly opened up the screen door, waiting for that fresh morning air to blow on me. Well guess what..nothing.The air was hot and still and nothing was moving my way. So...I closed the door and thought what the heck..time to get baking. Let me say I'm so happy I did...my kids were able to wake up to a house smelling like a Cinnabon bakery. We all sat down and enjoyed a hot roll right out of the oven. It was worth adding those few degrees to the temperature.
The Recipe
1 ( 1/4 ounce) package dry yeast
1 cup warm milk
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup margarine
1 tsp salt
4 cups flour
Filling
1 cup brown sugar
2 1/2 tbs cinnamon
Icing
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup cream cheese
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/8 tsp salt
Putting it all together
For the rolls, dissolve the yeast in the warm milk in a large bowl.
Add sugar, margarine, slat, eggs and flour, mix well.
Knead the dough into a large bowl, using hands dusted with flour. This method is used if your not using your mixer.
Put in a bowl, cover and let rise for 1 hour
Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface, until it is approx 21 inches long and 16 inches wide.
It should be 1/4 inch thick.
Preheat your oven too 400*
To make filling, combine the brown sugar and cinnamon in a bowl
Spread the soft margarine over the surface of the dough, then sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon evenly over the surface
Roll the dough up in to a large log
Cut the dough into 1 3/4 inch slices, and place in a lightly greased baking pan.
Bake for 10 minutes.
While the rolls are baking combine the icing ingredients.
Beat well until fluffy
When the rolls are done, spread generously with icing.
Now it's time to sit back with some hot coffee or tea and enjoy a nice warm cinnabon.
